HolliDance Benchmark Results Form V1.2 Last Change: 11th April 2000 HolliDance (HD) reference pages and files: http://www.futuretech.vuurwerk.nl/hollibench.html http://www.znet.com/~dwhite/dance.html http://home.san.rr.com/dwhite2/HolliDance.tar.gz Use /usr/gfx/gfxinfo to obtain detailed graphics board revision information. Results for: Onyx RealityEngine2 Deskside "RES", 12 GEs (GE10 rev. 0x7), 2 RM5, 10-bit RGBA pixels, no MCO 2 X 196 MHZ IP25 (R10000), 1Mb L2 256 Mb 2-way interleaved IRIX 6.5 Sirius Video Test Date: 1st feb 2001 Tester: GanjaTron! Email: schregle@ise.fhg.de Run the program. Press D to stop Holli dancing (this is a gfx test, so zero dancing will lower the amount of animation interference that might impede on CPU usage devoted to gfx). All tests should be done with the monitor set to 1280x1024 72HZ, using the best possible display mode (eg. 32+32 for O2). Higher-resolution results are still useful though since they will allow the comparison of, for example, Indigo2 IMPACT, Octane, Onyx and Onyx2. HD's fps rate can sometimes oscillate across a range of values. If this happens, determine the fps rate to use by noting the highest and lowest values which the fps rate 'often' hits, and take the average of the two. Also, if a relational oscillation occurs between cetain parameters in gr_osview (eg. CPU inversely proportional to GFX:fiwt and SysAct:switch, surging from 0% to 100% and back again for every frame), don't attempt to take the average because that would be meaningless; instead, just say 'SURGE' and describe what's happening in a footnote. Key: GFX = Gfx:intr (blue) CPU = CPU:user (blue) switch = SysAct:switch (cyan) fiwt = Gfx:fiwt (magenta) Feel free to add footnotes on other gr_osview features if you think they're interesting. Only the above are required though. For the large window view: - Run gr_osview -a - Create an xterm, make the xterm use the largest font (CTRL + Mouse Right Button) and run HolliDance5.3 (do this so that the fps rate is displayed at the very bottom of the xterm, eg. make the xterm be small in height). Move the xterm so that it touches the bottom left corner of the screen. This will allow for a large Holli window but one will still be able to see the fps rate. - Select the Holli window. Resize the top edge of the Holli window to the top of the monitor screen. Resize the bottom edge of the Holli window as far down as possible but so that one can still see the fps rate in the xterm. The Holli window should now be of maximum width and almost maximum height, ie. approx. 1280x996. - Place gr_osview and jot so that they touch the bottom edge of the screen. This will allow them to be brought into view when needed. gr_osview should be minimised when not in use. For the textured view, set the viewpoint so that it looks like this: http://www.futuretech.vuurwerk.nl/hollitex.jpg A good method of achieving this viewpoint is: press D, C, O until it no longer has any effect, multipe LEFT/RIGHT until horizontally aligned, then a couple of UP arrow key presses. ********************************** Results ******************************** Test 1.
