See after the tables for details of the tests and other notes. Key (all GPU clocks are given as 'Core/Shader/RAM' or 'Core/Boost/RAM'; a single number refers to just the core clock): RX 580 = PowerColor Red Devil RX 580 8GB, default 1190/2000 core/RAM. GTX 780 Ti = EVGA GTX 780 Ti 3GB (Reference cooler), stock @ 980/1046/1750 core/boost/RAM (stabilises under load at around 1125MHz). GTX 1060 = Gigabyte GTX 1060 6GB Windforce, stock @ 1557/1772/2002 core/boost/RAM (stabilises under load at around 1924MHz). Perhaps the game is doing some kind of memory management to ensure VRAM usage doesn't get too high, which is unusual. As a result, I'm only going to test using the High preset, though note that unlike GN I measure across the entire test run since I'd rather the hit from particles effects was included since that is, afterall, something a player is likely to see quite frequently during combat. For reference though, here's how avg fps performance varies for Low/Medium/Ultra vs. High for the Huananzhi X9D, XEON 2420 v2 and 780 Ti, just to show that the differences between each setting are consistent at each resolution, so one can extrapolate if need be. 1080p 1440p (%reduction) --------------------------------------- LOW: 119.1 81.7 31% MEDIUM: 81.6 54.2 34% HIGH: 63.5 44.4 30% ULTRA: 49.8 36.1 27% ie. whatever preset one uses, going from 1080p to 1440p will drop performance by about a third. Next, here's the percentage change vs. HIGH preset for the other presets at each resolution: LOW MEDIUM ULTRA --------------------------- 1080p: +88% +29% -22% 1440p: +84% +22% -19% Note that the 0.1% Low seems to hit a spike sometimes right at the end of the test, but not always. It's always at the same point. Doesn't always happen, but usually it does. Kinda ruins the 0.1% metric, but I'll leave the data in - those cases where it doesn't happen can at least be used as a guide. CPU usage for The Division seems fairly light. The game runs well even on a lowly XEON 2420 v2, though at times the game was certainly using all available threads, so maybe CPU bottleneck issues will become more visible when using 4 core CPUs like the 2700K. Based on this I would recommend either 6c with SMT or a native 8c CPU for this game. I suspect 4c/8t or 6c/6t CPUs may have difficulties, but we'll see. For the dual XEON 2640 system, running the DX11 test under Win10 improved avg performance by 4% but greatly improved 0.1% Lows, whereas at 1440p the speedup was a more even 2.4% across the board. Using DX12 under Win10 hurt performance though, with 9% lower avg at 1080p, 13% lower avg at 1440p. At 1080p the Lows didn't change much, but at 1440p the Lows really suffered, both about 35% lower. Thus, for many-core XEONs and if you care about frame rate consistency, then at 1080p DX12 is a good idea, but at 1440p I'd stick with DX11 but still use Win10.
