F1 2018, DX11 Benchmark Last Change: 18/Jan/2023, 2129hrs. Whoami: Ian Mapleson http://www.sgidepot.co.uk/sgi.html http://www.sgidepot.co.uk/sgidepot/ Here I present collated results for a range of different systems for the built-in F1 2018 DX11 benchmark, testing with ULTRA settings on the Monaco circuit (the ULTRA configuration matches the "Ultra High" settings used by Gamers Nexus for their GPU reviews). See after the tables for various observations. I've included a single 4K result using a 780 Ti to show that 3GB VRAM is not enough for this game at 4K, so all other tests at 4K will only be with GPUs that have at least 4GB VRAM. Key (all GPU clocks are given as 'Core/Shader/RAM' or 'Core/Boost/RAM'; a single number refers to just the core clock): RX 580 = PowerColor Red Devil RX 580 8GB, default 1190/2000 core/RAM. This is unusual in that the resolution seems less important than the detail setting, ie. the latter at Medium seems to be imposing a greater CPU load even at 1440p. Not many games behave this way. In general though, F1 2018 is more GPU bound, the 2420 v2 still gives good results, though at 1440p/Ultra one really needs a better GPU just in general (maybe the RX 580 can do better with a stronger CPU, we'll see). Note the 0.1% Low quirks appear to be caused by something that happens right at the start of the race when the lights go green. I don't recall seeing any stuttering while the main race is ongoing, not even for the 780 Ti 1440p/ULTRA tests. VRAM usage ranges from 1700MB for 1080p/MEDIUM to 3GB for 1440p/ULTRA. Between doing the 4GHz and 5GHz 2700K tests with the 780 Ti, installing SotTR updated the drivers to 411.70, so perhaps the speed difference might ordinarily be smaller or larger than this, who knows. Either way, at least with a 2700K, CPU speed doesn't seem to matter much (all threads were loaded, but none that high). F1 2018 seems to be very GPU dependent. It's interesting though that at 1080p the 2700K with HT off showed better 0.1% Low numbers, but hard to know if these were just outliers. Win 10 helped a little with performance on the dual XEON 2640 system, but hard to know if it's that significant. Turning NUMA off did't make much difference, just a tiny speedup that's within error margins. 23/Jan/2023 Update: Due to time limitations, from now on I will only be testing using ULTRA settings.
